Privacy Policy
Last updated: 7 July 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Whatifi (“we”, “our”, “the app”) handles personal data. Whatifi is a personal financial planning tool operated by Marek Slavíček, Nové Sady 988/2, Brno, 602 00, Czech Republic, IČ 09625356 (the “data controller”). We built Whatifi to be private by design: the financial plans you create stay on your device. This policy applies wherever you use the app — including the European Union, the United States, and Canada — and is written to meet the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Czech data-protection law, applicable U.S. state privacy laws (such as the California Consumer Privacy Act), and Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
Who is responsible for your data
The data controller is Marek Slavíček. If you have any questions about this policy or how your data is handled, contact us at hello@whatifiapp.app.
Our privacy-first approach
Whatifi works without an account. The financial scenarios, assumptions, incomes, expenses, assets, and settings you enter are stored locally on your device. This plan data is not transmitted to us and we do not operate a cloud sync service for it. We never see, store, or sell the financial details you enter.
Data stored on your device
Your plans and app preferences (such as language and onboarding state) are kept in on-device storage. You stay in control: you can edit or delete this data at any time within the app, or remove all of it by uninstalling the app. Device backups (e.g. iCloud or Google backup) may include this data if you have those backups enabled.
Analytics and crash reporting
To keep the app stable and understand which features are used, we use Google Firebase — specifically Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, and Performance Monitoring. These tools may collect usage events (e.g. screens viewed, features used), crash and error diagnostics, performance traces, and technical information such as device model, operating system, app version, language, and a pseudonymous installation identifier. They do not collect the financial figures you enter into your plans. We do not use the advertising identifier (Apple IDFA or Google Advertising ID), we do not show third-party ads, and we do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in maintaining and improving the app (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)); where local law requires consent for analytics, we rely on your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)).
Purchases and subscriptions
Whatifi Pro is sold as an in-app purchase. Payments are processed entirely by the Apple App Store or Google Play using your store account — we never receive or store your payment-card details. To unlock features and restore purchases across your devices, we use RevenueCat, which validates your purchase receipt and assigns a pseudonymous app-user identifier. We process this purchase information to perform our contract with you (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)).
Service providers (processors)
We share limited technical data with the providers that make the app work: Google (Firebase analytics, crash, and performance), RevenueCat (purchase entitlement management), Apple and Google (app distribution and payments), and Expo (app builds and over-the-air updates — when the app checks for an update, Expo receives basic request data such as your IP address and app version). Each processes data under its own privacy terms and only as needed to provide its service.
International data transfers
Our providers process data primarily in the United States and the European Economic Area. If you are in the EEA, transfers outside the EEA are protected by appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses, an adequacy decision, or certification under the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework. If you are in the United States or Canada, your data may likewise be processed in these locations.
How long we keep data
Plan data remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app. Analytics and crash data are retained by our providers for limited periods in line with their standard retention policies, after which they are deleted or aggregated.
Your rights in the EU/EEA (GDPR)
You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, the right to data portability, and the right to withdraw consent at any time. Because plan data lives only on your device, you can exercise erasure directly by deleting plans or uninstalling the app. For requests relating to analytics or purchase data, contact us at hello@whatifiapp.app.
Your rights in the United States
Depending on your state of residence (for example under the California Consumer Privacy Act), you may have the right to know what personal information we process, to access, correct, and delete it, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information and of targeted advertising. Whatifi does not sell personal information, does not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, and does not use your data for targeted advertising. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. To make a request, contact hello@whatifiapp.app.
Your rights in Canada
If you are in Canada, PIPEDA and equivalent provincial laws give you the right to access and correct the personal information we hold about you and to withdraw consent, subject to legal or contractual restrictions. To make a request, contact hello@whatifiapp.app.
Children
Whatifi is intended for adults making personal financial decisions and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under the age required by local law — 13 in the United States and Canada, and typically 15–16 in the EU (15 in the Czech Republic). If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
Complaints
If you believe your data-protection rights have been infringed, you may lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. In the Czech Republic this is the Office for Personal Data Protection (Úřad pro ochranu osobních údajů, uoou.gov.cz); in Canada, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada; in the United States, your state attorney general or the Federal Trade Commission.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date above; significant changes may also be highlighted in the app.
